60 is too hight for conroe. Probably its for both cores as you said. I do use soft which came with mobo.
Maybe you could try to update your bios to fix temp detection issues (if there is a newer version)
This is my iddle temp
I'd try the speedfan and it shows this
As you can see here are some wrong infos 2.
Or go to your mobo manufacturer's site and dl somth there. I am sure there will be some optimized software for your chipset.
PS: i do not have 9C in my room

Thats true but only with software support which automaticaly decrease cpu frequency in the indle times.Arnott wrote:
But i've heard the cpu can run in the mid 20's on standerd cooling.
With stable frequency and standart cooling you can´t get it under 28 degrees (even with opened case) unless you have really, and i mean really good air circulation in case. (some expensive overclocers designed case)
Ah i see, they dont tell you them things.
I have a program called core temp now which is meant to be a more accurate reading. Its meant to read from the hottest part of the cpu.
its around 40c a core idle, would u say thats too high or is it ok for standerd cooling.
Just spent alot of money on this pc and with me putting the cpu in myself kinda paranoid something will go wrong

On CPU there are 2 temps which can be detected. 1st is for surface (bios and most of temp detecion programs shows this number) and the second inside the core (not so popular). Statisticaly is the core about +10 degrees more hot like the surface. So if your soft shows core temp 40c, your surface temp will be around 30 which is good and normal for stock cooler.

Done...
but my f*cking mothercard is outdated. It doesn't support my new periphs to their full power. Need to buy another one, since I can't find a bios update for it.
PS Sorry for not being here tonight for the war, but I was having trouble with my pc (you guessed it right ! was tryin' to find out what didn't work ><)

ah that one 8800gt is based on G92 core with much less power consuption as older G80 (8800GTX). so your PSU should be ok unless you have 4 HDD, 2 optical devices etcboom wrote:hi yellow,

I Just took the side off my pc and with the big fan cpu tems have droped to tthe low 30's over clocked, think i should leave the side off?
Arnie, i assume that the big fan in the middle back is for extreme overclocking
Thats another awesome setup, that CPU alone is mega bucks.boom wrote:ok here it is hopefully will have it soon depending when the xfx cards are available..
