i got my new Logitech G5 today and every single time i plug it into the USB slots it says:

Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard

This wizard helps you install software for:
USB Gaming Mouse

then says to install it etc, i click Next and it searches n shit and then it says:

Cannot Install this Hardware...
The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software.

grrrr, the mouse should work without the Setpoint Software anyways... and this happens to my mouse each time!! i cant even use it :( :( :( :( :( :(

Set point is the driver for that mouse...same as with my mx518. It works without set point as i have ms mouse software in there too. imo i think you need to install setpoint.

remove any previously installed mouse drivers, disconnect mouse,
install setpoint driver, then connect mouse to usb port.

I got only 2 adds

1. Try to reinstal whole system
2. If you trying to connect it to PC, do you use front or rear USB slots(PC)?
Try USB connectors placed directly on MB (rear usb slots on I/O shield)

I think there is nothing else you can do if this will not works.

@ Y.

The usb is picking up the new hardware by the sound of it. I think he has deleted his microsoft mouse drivers. surely just a reinstall of the microsoft mouse driver will sort it....

You could try un-installing the software in "safe-mode", and make sure there are no stale devices in device manager...
