heya,
i just wanted to introduce you to a cool tool cuz i was asked for it.
Its called q3 minimizer and i use it already for years.
Maybe you know it maybe not and as you probably think, you use it to minimize q3, so you can play and when you are frozen do other stuff...(works with few other games also)
You just have to set a game and a hot-key for hide and restore q3.

im using left alt + enter to put q3 to window, then toggle down console and then you can leave q3 window and go to your desktop.

other possibility but with this tool you just need 1 clic and you are back on your desktop
cuz it dont really minimize the game, rather its more like hiding.
